FC Barcelona continues strengthening its youth categories by officially signing 17-year-old Moroccan midfielder Mahdi El Maimouni. He played last season for Belgian club Sporting Charleroi.
El Maimouni joined as a free agent and is registered with the youth team, though depending on his development, he may also feature for Barça Atlètic.
A few days before the announcement, Mahdi shared images on social media from his visit to Barcelona including the club museum. Belgian media published photos showing him signing his contract alongside Barcelona sports director Rafa Yuste.
Club officials emphasize that this signing aligns with their policy of identifying emerging talents to strengthen the youth squads. This strategy enables acquiring quality players cost-effectively while developing them under the club’s style.
