Quim Junyent, a 19-year-old midfielder who spent ten years at Barcelona's La Masia academy, has officially left the club to join Almeria.
Junyent progressed through all levels at La Masia and played a key role in Juvenil A’s historic treble-winning 2024/25 season. He also helped Spain win the UEFA Under-19 European Championship, where he was awarded the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Although expected to become a leading figure for Juliano Belletti’s Barça Atlètic squad, Junyent faced limited opportunities with the first team and the reserves, which influenced his decision to pursue development elsewhere.
Interest from Almeria emerged during the winter transfer window, impacting his playing time with Barça Atlètic and leading to a return to Juvenil A before his departure.
In his farewell message, Junyent expressed gratitude: “I am very fortunate to be able to say that I played for Barça – a dream come true.” Former teammates, including Pau Cubarsi and Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez, extended their support.
This move is part of a wider trend this summer, with several promising La Masia graduates seeking opportunities outside Barcelona to continue their careers.
