Joan Soler, responsible for the football academy, has taken a significant vice presidential position in FC Barcelona’s new board. The updated structure, comprising 22 directors, becomes effective on July 1 — the official date of the inauguration of newly elected president Joan Laporta following the March 15, 2026 elections.

Soler, a businessman in the food industry and former president of CF Vilafranca, joined Laporta’s team in 2021 after Jordi Farré’s candidacy failed to pass the signature collection phase. Since Laporta’s term began, Soler has been one of the most proactive directors, gaining the president’s trust through decisive efforts and readiness to offer solutions during difficult times.

Thanks to his business background, Soler has been instrumental in securing sponsors and investors. As the new vice president of marketing, replacing Juli Guiu who left the club, he is expected to continue the growth momentum maintained since 2021.

Initially, there was consideration for Soler to become vice president of sports, particularly if Rafa Yuste had accepted an offer he received last year to become CEO at Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr. However, Yuste’s current role as sports vice president and first vice president has been satisfactory to Laporta, so he retains these positions.

Ferran Olivé, treasurer since 2021 who had handled economic vice presidential duties without holding the title, is officially appointed vice president of economic affairs following Eduard Romeu’s resignation. Elena Forman will serve as vice president of institutional relations, Antonio Escudero as vice president of social affairs, and Josep Cubells, leaving his presidency of the basketball section, will assume a new role as board secretary.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for July 1 at 12:30 PM in the Auditori 1899 of Spotify Camp Nou.
