When Joan Laporta was elected president in 2021, one of his priorities was to restore prominence to La Masia academy players. Currently, Barcelona's first team includes ten players developed in the academy, whose combined market value totals €643 million according to Transfermarkt.
However, not every graduate fits into the first team, so the sporting director Deco has focused on transferring players who cannot be accommodated at the club but maintain high value on the market. Since 2022, Deco has generated €100 million from selling 17 La Masia graduates, including Ansu Fati and Iñaki Peña.
Recent deals include the transfer of Iñaki Peña to Panathinaikos for €3 million and Ansu Fati to Monaco for €11 million, totaling €14 million in revenue. The most lucrative sale has been that of Nico González, earning €21.4 million after his time at Valencia, Porto, and Manchester City.
Other significant sales include Mika Faye (€10.3 million), Chadi Riad (€9 million), Dro (€8 million), and Abde (€7.5 million). Barcelona retains future resale percentages, such as 20% on Abde and 30% on Ansu Fati, potentially increasing total income over time.
A new significant sale is expected this season: Barcelona and Marc Casadó have agreed on a transfer valued between €20 and €25 million.
