Real Madrid secured the signing of 14-year-old Jan Vila Farre, a promising winger from Espanyol, ahead of Barcelona.
The youngster declined Barcelona’s offer to join La Masia, deciding instead to develop at Real Madrid’s La Fabrica in Valdebebas. Several Premier League clubs had also shown interest in Vila.
Jan Vila is a regular player for Spain’s Under-14 national team. He is noted for his dynamism on the right wing, strong one-on-one skills, and his attacking instincts.
His football journey started at Tarrega, followed by a spell at Gimnastic Manresa where he scored 28 goals in 58 appearances, establishing himself as a productive young attacker.
Ahead of the 2023/24 season, Vila moved to Espanyol, scoring 16 goals in 26 matches for their Alevin A team. Last season, he netted 15 times in 26 appearances with Espanyol’s Infantil B side.
Vila plays primarily as a traditional right winger, excelling in one-on-one situations and using his dribbling skills to create chances. His goal-scoring record and playing style made him a key figure in Espanyol’s Under-14 squads over two seasons.
His move to Real Madrid is considered a notable acquisition for La Fabrica and a missed opportunity for Barcelona given the player’s potential and interest surrounding him.
