FC Barcelona retains control over the future of former La Masia winger Jan Virgili, who moved to RCD Mallorca last summer. The Blaugrana still hold 40% of his economic rights and a right of first refusal as part of the €3.5 million transfer deal completed in 2025.

Following Mallorca’s relegation, Virgili’s release clause has dropped to €12 million, making him an affordable option for Barcelona. According to exclusive information from journalist Miquel Blazquez, Barcelona has informed Virgili that they will re-sign him this summer if there are any exits in the attacking line.

Roony Bardghji is widely expected to leave Barça in search of more playing time after a challenging debut season. His departure could open a spot for Virgili to return to Hansi Flick’s squad, especially considering that Virgili is familiar with the club’s style and would cost approximately €7 million, taking into account Barcelona’s retained economic stake.

The 19-year-old Spaniard had an impressive 2024/25 season with Juvenil A and Barça Atlètic, before scoring two goals and assisting six times in his first season at Mallorca. Barcelona’s sporting director Deco also recently met with Virgili’s agent, signaling serious interest.

While Barcelona has reinforced its attack by signing Anthony Gordon and chose not to keep Marcus Rashford permanently, questions remain over Raphinha’s future due to injury concerns. In this context, Virgili represents a cost-effective and fitting option to strengthen the squad’s attacking roster.
