The Barcelona football community mourns the loss of Enric Reyna, the 37th president of FC Barcelona, who passed away at the age of 85. He held the presidency from February 12 to May 5, 2003, taking over after Joan Gaspar resigned during one of the club’s toughest periods.

Reyna became a member of the club in 1965 and joined the board in 2000. In December 2002, he was appointed vice president. His short presidency lasted only 82 days, marked by a serious financial crisis and a downturn in the first team’s performance. Under his leadership, the club won the Copa del Rey in basketball, rink hockey, and the EHF Cup in handball. Additionally, in early 2003, an agreement was signed with the Catalan Sports Council to promote youth sports development.

Business was a lifelong passion for Enric Reyna — he founded his construction company at age 20, which later evolved into the real estate developer Amrey. He was a prominent figure in Catalonia’s construction sector, leading the Barcelona Promoters Association for 35 years and presiding over the Consruma construction fair and Fira de Barcelona. He received a special career achievement award from the Barcelona College of Architects.

After resigning, Reyna distanced himself from the media and rarely discussed his time as club president. His departure paved the way for elections, with Joan Laporta emerging victorious. In his later years, he remained present at important club events and was a respected figure in Barcelona’s community.

Funeral services were held at Les Corts mortuary near Spotify Camp Nou, with the ceremony taking place on the day of the club’s presidential elections.

For Barça fans, Reyna’s story is a reminder of resilience and dedication during difficult times. His brief but impactful tenure and significant business leadership leave an important legacy for both the club and Catalonia.
