Barcelona's 18-year-old winger Lamine Yamal has once again expressed his hope to see Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez join the Catalan club. Yamal believes the Argentine international meets the tactical demands of Barcelona perfectly.
“Everyone knows he's a top player that everyone wants to play with. I've already said it: we are open to welcoming him, and if he comes, we'll all be very happy. I think he's a great fit for Barça’s style. I don't know what the situation is, but I hope so,” Yamal said, according to Spanish media.
Álvarez, 26, has become a priority target due to his versatility and work rate. The World Cup-winning forward currently plays under Diego Simeone at Atlético Madrid. Yamal added: "He is coming to the best club in the world, with the best fans and in the best city. If I were him, I would do it. If he wants to come, we are waiting for him."
Meanwhile, relations between Álvarez and Simeone have reportedly deteriorated, with the coach reportedly ready to sanction the player’s exit following signs of his desire to leave. Atlético is expected to demand a premium fee, especially given a likely sale to a domestic rival rather than a foreign club.
Despite mutual interest, Barcelona faces financial hurdles and La Liga’s strict spending limits. Sporting director Deco is an admirer of Álvarez, and the board is exploring deal structures to fit within these constraints.
