Although Spain’s U17 national team was eliminated in the semifinals of the European Championship by Italy on penalties, Barcelona midfielder Ebrima Tunkara was named the best player of the tournament.

At 16 years old, Tunkara contributed one goal and provided four assists. His total of 23 key passes placed him at the top of the ranking in this category throughout the competition.

The UEFA Technical Observers Group highlighted that Tunkara was the main architect of Spain’s play, regularly posing an offensive threat. His ability to control and change the tempo of the game, find spaces, and create opportunities was pivotal for the team’s progress.

This season, Ebrima made his debut with Barça Atlètic at just 15 years old. He is expected to join the first team’s preseason preparations under coach Hansi Flick as planned.
