FC Barcelona is close to finalizing the transfer of 24-year-old forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund. The deal reportedly involves a fee of €22 million plus up to €7 million in add-ons.
Adeyemi has been in Catalonia for about a week and has completed his medical exams. Only minor bureaucratic details remain before the club can officially announce his signing.
Regarding his squad number, Adeyemi originally hoped to wear the No. 27 shirt, a number meaningful for his early career milestones.
However, La Liga regulations strictly limit first-team squad numbers to the range of 1 through 25. Numbers 26 and above are reserved for reserve players or those not yet registered with the first team. As a result, Adeyemi will have to choose a number within the allowed range.
This situation has affected Barcelona players before; for example, Roony Bardghji initially wore No. 28 while awaiting first-team registration.
Both clubs are completing the necessary paperwork to finalize the transfer. Barcelona plans to officially announce Adeyemi’s signing shortly, with a formal presentation to fans and media scheduled for Thursday.
The transfer seems well advanced, and supporters eagerly anticipate seeing the new forward don the Barcelona colors.
