FC Barcelona unveiled its second kit for the 2026/27 season. The jersey features predominantly black with purple tones, reflecting the colors of the Los Angeles Lakers, the team where basketball legend Kobe Bryant made history. This launch is part of the ongoing collaboration with Nike.

The introduction of the new away kit was well received and is another example of the club’s successful efforts to reinvent its image and apparel collections season after season.

Barcelona’s history of second kits spans more than a century. The first alternative kit was dark blue, followed by a yellow and red version in 1916. White was the main color for second kits from the 1920s through the 1970s. Between 1975 and 1985, yellow became prominent. Over time, the club released kits in turquoise, gold, silver, and blue shades, with iconic versions such as the orange away kit for the 1992 Wembley final and the yellow with blue trim for the 'Iniestazo' match at Stamford Bridge in 2009.

Third kits started being commercially available in the 2013/14 season, featuring designs inspired by the Catalan ‘senyera’ flag. Later, in 2018, a pink kit inspired by Barcelona’s Eixample neighborhood was introduced, followed by a golden kit in 2022 honoring the 1992 Olympic Games and the club’s connection to the city.

Beyond the recently launched black and purple away jersey, Barcelona plans to release two additional kits for 2026/27. The third kit will be composed of two turquoise shades, reminiscent of the kit from 30 years ago. The fourth kit will showcase the Creu de Sant Jordi on the front and be a light, nearly white color. These kits are expected to go on sale between late August and early September.

These releases underline the club’s strategy to maintain fan engagement and enhance commercial opportunities through diverse and culturally meaningful kit offerings.
