Ajax boss Michel has expressed hope to sign Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen on a season-long loan for 2026/27.

The two clubs are still negotiating the temporary transfer, with salary demands posing a challenge yet to be resolved. Michel remains optimistic that the deal will be completed shortly.

"Everyone knows what's going on. Hopefully, he can help us, and we'll be able to talk about him soon," said Michel, also mentioning daily communications with Jordi Cruyff about available options.

Ter Stegen previously played under Michel at Girona last season, before an injury cut his time short. A reunion in the Eredivisie could provide the goalkeeper valuable game time.

For Barcelona, loaning out Ter Stegen may help ease goalkeeper competition and salary expenditures.
