Frenkie de Jong has started his recovery process after suffering a tear in the medial collateral ligament of his right knee during the World Cup with his national team.

The midfielder reported to Barcelona's Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper to plan his rehabilitation work. De Jong opted for conservative treatment, foregoing surgery, although club medical staff considered both options.

He will continue his recovery in England, having been included by coach Hansi Flick in the squad traveling to St. George's Park. His absence is a setback for the team, but the coach has other options for the double pivot, notably Marc Bernal and Pedri.

Barcelona is monitoring his progress and may adjust the recovery plan depending on his evolution. No official timelines have been provided for his return to play.
