Barcelona's interim president Rafa Yuste has confirmed that following the recent signing of Anthony Gordon, the club plans further additions this summer.
Gordon joined for €70 million, potentially rising to €80 million with variables, and his signing came somewhat unexpectedly given his natural position on the left side, which is already covered by Raphinha. However, Barcelona’s main priority remains strengthening their number nine spot, with Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez leading the shortlist, and Chelsea’s João Pedro also considered.
Speaking to the club’s senior members, Yuste said: “We’ve signed Gordon. And more are coming. Between now and the end of the season — I can’t reveal details yet — you will hear about new players that Deco and Bojan are working to bring in. We will comply with the 1:1 salary rule.” This references salary cap regulations which remain a key concern for Barcelona.
Beyond the striker position, the club is considering adding central defenders and possibly a full-back if Jules Koundé or Alejandro Balde are sold. The future of Marcus Rashford, currently on loan from Manchester United, is uncertain; should he not return, Barcelona looks poised to sign another forward.
The club is actively pursuing reinforcements, navigating financial constraints to prepare a competitive squad for the next season.
The key transfer focus is on the striker and defensive lines, with official announcements likely in the coming weeks.
