Shane Kluivert is an emerging star in Barcelona’s ranks who has begun to show his quality with the senior team.
Born in the Netherlands, Kluivert joined La Masia in 2017 after spells at Buitenveldert Amsterdam and Paris Saint-Germain, following the footsteps of his father, former Barcelona striker Patrick Kluivert. Over nine years in the academy, he developed into a versatile attacker with strong dribbling and vision to create chances.
Kluivert is capable of playing across the frontline—on either wing or centrally—offering creativity beyond just providing width. He demonstrated his ability by assisting Barca’s second goal in a behind-closed-doors preseason match against CE Europa, contributing to a 4-1 win.
His role in the first team is still evolving. Head coach Hansi Flick appreciates his fearlessness and decisive actions during the limited minutes given. Alongside his involvement with the main squad, Kluivert has also gained valuable experience with Barcelona Athletic under Juliano Belletti.
Competition in Barcelona’s attacking line-up is strong, but the club’s faith in Kluivert’s potential was clear when they extended his contract until 2028. Flick expects consistency in training and higher-level preseason matches before considering him for regular senior involvement.
Shane Kluivert has proven he can play confidently, create chances, and make key contributions. His versatility and forward-thinking play make him an important asset for Barcelona’s attack. Going forward, he is expected to continue his development and become a key young figure at the club.
