Toni Freixa, contributor to 'La Posesión' and 'El Chiringuito', shared his views on Julián Álvarez's potential transfer from Atlético Madrid to FC Barcelona during the program 'Solo para culés'.
Julián Álvarez currently holds a contract with Atlético Madrid until June 30, 2030. Despite this, his future is uncertain. Atlético Madrid rejected a €150 million offer from Real Madrid, as confirmed by the latter's official channels.
Reports also indicate Atlético may have an agreement with Arsenal to sell Álvarez for €50 million plus Viktor Gyökeres. Regarding the possibility of a move to Barcelona, Freixa said: "I will not predict Julián Álvarez’s future because it does not depend on me. For me, there are two hypotheses: he stays at Atlético or he comes to Barça; I do not consider a third option."
He added that the player does not want to remain at Atlético, and if a transfer to Barcelona does not materialize, Álvarez might prefer a third option over staying.
Freixa emphasized that "Barcelona will be the least affected by this situation. If he does not come, Barça will continue to have a championship team under Hansi Flick, based on the current squad and future additions. We will fight to win all possible titles." He also noted, "We do not depend on Julián Álvarez, although he is a player we want."
The forward’s future will be decided after the World Cup.
