Barça Atlètic is set to strengthen its squad by acquiring 18-year-old left-back Josué Caicedo from Ecuadorian side LDU Quito on loan, with a purchase option of approximately €2.5 million that may become an obligation subject to performance conditions.

Caicedo is recognized as one of Ecuador’s promising wide defenders, noted for his pace, one-on-one defending, and attacking contribution. Primarily a left-back, he can also advance into more attacking wing positions.

Barcelona’s interest emerged during LDU Quito’s U-20 Copa Libertadores campaign. Caicedo has accumulated about ten senior appearances for LDU Quito by late May 2026, including a start in their 3-2 Copa Libertadores win over Always Ready on May 26.

The loan structure reflects Barcelona's cautious financial policy, minimizing fixed costs while allowing thorough sporting evaluation. Caicedo will work under coach Juliano Belletti at Barça Atlètic, where the focus is on developing his positional understanding within a competitive setting.

Official confirmation, including medicals and registration, is expected prior to preseason, when the coaching staff will assess his adaptation to the club’s requirements.
