As part of Dani Olmo's transfer to Barcelona, a friendly match has been planned, expected to take place this summer.

Leipzig is currently the main candidate to be Barcelona's opponent in the pre-season match honoring the club's founder. This match is traditionally held at the Joan Gamper Stadium but is expected to return to Barcelona’s main stadium, Spotify Camp Nou, although the Johan Cruyff Stadium remains an option due to ongoing renovations.

The transfer agreement for Dani Olmo includes a fee of 55 million euros plus bonuses and the obligation to organize a friendly match between Barcelona and Leipzig before 2028.

This will be Leipzig’s first participation in the Gamper Trophy, becoming the eighth German team to take part. Barcelona and Leipzig have met officially twice in the 1981-82 Cup Winners' Cup, with Barcelona advancing and eventually winning the tournament.

Leipzig's current star is the young Ivorian winger Yan Diomande, who could be one of the highlights of the upcoming Gamper Trophy.
