Xavi Hernández, the 46-year-old former coach of FC Barcelona (2021–2024) and Al-Saad of Qatar (2019–2021), revealed his desire to lead a national team next. In an interview with RNE before the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, he emphasized that working with a national side fits better with his family life.

"A national team would fit well with my family situation. A club role wouldn’t allow me to spend as much time with my children, who are still very young. I say this openly — it suits me. I want to participate as a coach in a World Cup, a European Championship, the Africa Cup, the Asia Cup...," Xavi stated.

As a player, Xavi was capped 133 times for Spain, which provided him with a thorough understanding of how a national team operates. His international career coincided with Spain's most successful era, winning the 2010 World Cup and the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.

Having finished his tenure at Barcelona, Xavi is openly considering new professional challenges beyond club football, with a focus on prestigious international competitions.
