Barcelona reportedly turned down the chance to sign Yan Diomande this summer.
The Ivory Coast star, who had been on the club’s radar for some time, was offered to the Catalans. However, they decided instead to focus on Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
The decision was influenced by Gordon’s speed, ability to attack spaces, and intensity off the ball. It is also claimed that head coach Hans-Dieter Flick was impressed by Gordon and instructed Deco to make signing him an absolute priority in the summer transfer window.
Barcelona had been seeking a top-level winger due to injuries to Raphinha. Gordon, as an English international, was preferred as the option. He was later signed in a transfer worth €80 million, with high expectations for his contribution next season.
Meanwhile, Yan Diomande remains regarded as one of the most exciting young talents. Liverpool had shown interest in him as well, but the latest updates suggest he is leaning towards a move to PSG.
