Former president Joan Laporta held a book launch for his work ‘Així hem salva el Barça’ (‘This is How We Saved Barça’) at the historic cultural institution Ateneu Barcelonès in central Barcelona.
He took the audience through the last five years and made the case for his re-election as club president in the upcoming elections. Laporta emphasized that saving the club wasn’t done from offices or suits, but through hard work, showing a picture of himself in a worker's vest at the Spotify Camp Nou construction site.
He highlighted the sporting project that won a historic treble last year and praised sporting director Deco’s work, also acknowledging the presence of head coach Hansi Flick.
Laporta also addressed one of the toughest moments during his presidency: the departure of Lionel Messi, which was forced by the club’s economic situation.
The event featured well-known figures like former player and club football coordinator Bojan Krkić and former president Joan Gaspar.
Laporta ended on an optimistic note about the upcoming presidential race and humorously suggested the book might be missing a chapter about “who we saved Barça from,” hinting at old rivals.
