Barcelona has struggled to secure a new striker this summer, while their only senior forward, Ferran Torres, may soon depart. Initially expected to stay following Robert Lewandowski's contract expiration, Torres has recently been strongly linked with a move away from Spotify Camp Nou.
According to Spanish media, if Torres leaves, sporting director Deco may opt for a more affordable option. Hoffenheim's striker Fisnik Asllani has emerged as a candidate, having previously been close to joining RB Leipzig.
Asllani has paused negotiations with Leipzig after learning of possible interest from Barcelona. He aims to join Hansi Flick's squad this summer and is willing to delay any decision regarding his future.
Asllani's release clause is set at €29 million, which is notably lower than the approximately €50 million Barcelona could receive for Torres, considering he has less than a year remaining on his contract. This transfer would allow the Catalan club to preserve a substantial budget for further signings.
Asllani presents an intriguing option for strengthening the attack, though Barcelona would ideally retain Torres, who has been a valuable squad player over the past 2-3 seasons and primarily used as a striker. Replacing his goal contributions would be challenging.
The next few weeks will reveal how the situations of both players develop, but should Torres be sold, Barcelona might turn to Asllani as a replacement.
