Since August 2023, when Deco took over as Sporting Director of FC Barcelona, one of his main priorities has been to secure the continuity of key players shaping Hansi Flick's team. In a context of financial constraints and the need to build a competitive side for the medium and long term, contract renewals have become a fundamental part of the club's strategy.

Barcelona has finalized long-term contracts with Lamine Yamal (until 2031), Pedri (until 2030), Gavi (until 2030), Pau Cubarsí (until 2029), Ronald Araujo (until 2031), Raphinha (until 2028), and Fermín López (until 2031). The only exception is Ferran Torres, whose contract ends in 2027.

Ferran Torres is attracting interest from several clubs, notably PSG, which has launched an offensive to sign him this summer, and potentially Atlético Madrid in the future. Negotiations remain ongoing without immediate resolutions, and the club is monitoring options.

Particular importance was placed on renewing Yamal, considered one of the greatest young talents globally, and Pedri, who, despite injuries in recent seasons, remains a cornerstone of the club’s trust in his technical and leadership qualities. Gavi, a La Masia graduate, also secured a long-term deal, confirming his fundamental role in the team’s midfield.

Pau Cubarsí, who emerged with maturity beyond his years and became one of Europe's most promising defenders, received an extension to prevent interest from major clubs.

Ronald Araujo, one of La Liga’s best defenders and a team leader, extended his contract reinforcing the defensive stability vital for the project’s next several seasons. Fermín López, noted for his growth, intensity, and commitment, also secured a long-term deal.

Offensively, Raphinha extended his contract after becoming one of the team’s most decisive players, reinforcing mutual trust between player and club.

Deco also facilitated renewals for promising academy players like Marc Bernal and Gerard Martín, underlining the importance placed on developing internal talent.

These renewals fit within La Liga's 1:1 financial rule and UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations, ensuring the club's stability by balancing sporting ambitions and economic sustainability. This strategy positions Barcelona to maintain competitiveness without breaching financial limits and lays a foundation for future success.
