Andrés Cuenca, a 19-year-old central defender, is departing FC Barcelona after seven years developing in La Masia. He renewed his contract until 2027 in February and was later loaned to Sporting de Gijón.

Originally from Andalusia, Cuenca began his football journey at Sevilla before joining Barcelona’s youth system at the infantil level. He is known for his good ball control and ability to build play from the back.

Cuenca played 26 matches for Barça Atlètic. In October 2024, he made his first-team debut in a Champions League match against Young Boys. According to Fabrizio Romano, his transfer to Italian side Como, coached by Cesc Fàbregas, will be for €700,000 with Barcelona retaining 20% of any future sale.

On social media, Cuenca expressed his feelings: "It is never easy to say goodbye to the place where you grew up. I arrived as a kid and leave with a backpack full of memories, lessons, and people who have shaped my life forever."

Despite suffering a muscle injury shortly after arriving at Gijón, Cuenca became an important player, starting the last seven league matches. In his farewell statement, he added: "I leave proud of everything we’ve experienced together and excited to face a new challenge, knowing that a part of me will always remain here."
