Former Barcelona defender and La Masia product Sergi Dominguez could provide the club with an unexpected financial boost this summer.

After joining Dinamo Zagreb last summer, the young central defender continues to attract interest from European clubs, including Serie A's Lazio, who are seeking a replacement for Mario Gila.

Dinamo Zagreb has set a price of €14 million for Dominguez and will not consider offers below this valuation. His contract with the Croatian club runs until 2029, giving Dinamo a strong negotiating advantage.

Barcelona sold Dominguez for €1.2 million, but retained a clause granting them 20% of any future capital gain upon resale. If the transfer occurs at €14 million, Barcelona stands to receive approximately €2.8 million from this clause.

Additionally, Barcelona is entitled to training compensation through FIFA's mechanisms. Having developed Dominguez at La Masia from 2020 to 2025, the club could receive an estimated €270,000.

Combined, these figures could bring close to €3 million to Barcelona. Dinamo Zagreb faces no urgent need to sell and can afford to reject bids that do not meet their valuation.

Barcelona will monitor the situation closely, as the club no longer controls the player’s future, but the clauses negotiated upon his departure could result in significant financial returns.
