FC Barcelona has implemented a restriction for season ticket holders in the 2026/27 campaign living abroad, especially those holding citizenship of countries whose teams face Barcelona away.
According to Vincent Pourreau, president of the Penya de Saint-Jéury in France, there is a clause stating that "for matches against clubs outside the Spanish state, the ticket cannot be transferred to persons holding the nationality of the visiting team's country." This means a French fan cannot transfer their season ticket to a French friend for matches against teams like PSG, Lens, or Lille.
The club’s justification surrounds fighting ticket reselling, but this rule has been criticized as discriminatory since nationality does not determine a person’s supported team.
Previously, Barcelona reinforced controls at Camp Nou after incidents against Eintracht Frankfurt, while issues remain at Palau Blaugrana, where rival fans seated among Barcelona supporters have caused tensions with clubs such as Partizan, Zalgiris, Joventut, and Lleida.
These measures affect overseas season ticket holders by limiting their rights to transfer their seats depending on the opponent's nationality. The club continues this policy to combat ticket resale, yet the new application raises concerns among some supporters.
