Barcelona announced the loan of 18-year-old Ecuadorian player Josué Caicedo from LDU Quito to Barça Atlètic for the 2027/28 season. Caicedo joins the reserve squad managed by Juliano Belletti competing in the Segunda Federación.
The two clubs had agreed on the deal about a week prior, and after finalizing all details, the transfer was formally announced. Caicedo is a left-back with significant potential and fits into the sporting director’s plan to recruit talent outside La Masia.
The player is versatile, capable of performing both as a full-back and as a winger. This season, Caicedo stepped up to LDU Quito’s first team, appearing in matches in the Ecuadorian league and Copa Libertadores.
Barcelona expects further development from him at Barça Atlètic and holds an option to purchase his registration at the end of the loan period.
