Marc Casado, a Barcelona academy graduate, has had a difficult season so far with limited playing time, which has affected his form.
The 22-year-old is behind Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Dani Olmo, and Marc Bernal in the squad hierarchy. He has logged just 1129 minutes across 25 appearances in all competitions this season, raising questions about his future at the club.
According to 365Scores (via SPORT), Saudi Arabia has expressed interest in Casado. The country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which controls leading clubs in the Saudi Pro League, plans to make Barcelona an offer exceeding €40 million to initiate negotiations.
Such an offer would significantly benefit Barcelona’s finances and improve their financial fair play situation.
Additionally, PIF officials intend to meet with Casado’s representatives soon to explore his willingness to move. This is not yet a formal proposal but an initial approach to assess feasibility.
If the transfer happens, Casado would be offered a salary much higher than his current one, which is among the lowest in the squad, aiming to secure his agreement.
Meanwhile, Barcelona aims to renew Casado’s contract before the season ends, as they consider him an important player despite his limited role. Negotiations are expected to intensify in the coming weeks, depending in part on coach Hansi Flick’s plans.
