Germany national team coach Julian Nagelsmann has expressed strong admiration for Hansi Flick’s work at Barcelona.

Ahead of Germany’s World Cup match against Ivory Coast in Toronto, Nagelsmann described Barcelona’s progress under Flick as "perfect." He suggested that their Champions League exit was due more to unfortunate circumstances than to shortcomings in the team’s performance.

“I think the Barcelona team developed perfectly; they had bad luck in the Champions League, with that red card (against Atletico) complicating their chances of advancing to the next round.

But they were champions again in Spain and performed brilliantly,” Nagelsmann stated.

He also drew parallels with his own career, noting that he succeeded Flick as head coach at Bayern Munich in 2021 and later replaced him as Germany coach two years later.

Nagelsmann refrained from revealing tactical details, joking that some coaching ideas should remain confidential.

His comments confirm the high sporting level of Barcelona during the 2025/26 season and emphasize Hansi Flick’s role in the team’s successful development.
