FC Barcelona's women's team officially unveiled their first addition for the 2027/28 season: 19-year-old central defender Renee Van Asten, a product of Ajax’s academy. Having debuted with the senior Netherlands national team in April 2026, Van Asten is considered one of the country’s most promising defenders.
The transfer involved a fee despite her contract with Ajax lasting until 2027, as several top European clubs were vying for her services. Van Asten’s contract with Barça will run for three seasons, until June 2030.
