FC Barcelona has announced that medical tests on Jofre Torrens have confirmed a syndesmosis injury in his left ankle.

The Barça B defender is expected to be out for between 10 and 12 weeks, according to the estimated recovery time provided by the club.

Torrens was injured last Saturday during the match against CD Alcoyano (1-1). He entered after halftime but played only about twenty minutes before requesting a substitution due to visible pain in the 67th minute.

Today's assessments were decisive in confirming the full extent of the injury.

While a long absence is a concern, it is somewhat relieving that the injury affects the ankle rather than the knee. Previously, in November 2023, Torrens had surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament after sustaining a serious injury with Spain's U-17 national team, sidelining him for over a year.

This setback comes at an important time of the season. Torrens had established himself as a key player for Barça B, especially following João Cancelo's arrival to the first team in winter, which allowed him more consistent playing time with the reserve side.
