Fermin Lopez has made significant progress in his recovery following the foot surgery required due to a fractured metatarsal suffered against Real Betis.
The 23-year-old midfielder has started jogging and is gradually stepping up individual training sessions under the supervision of physiotherapist Jose Cortes. This development coincides with the official start of Barcelona’s pre-season training at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
Although still following a tailored rehabilitation program, the club is optimistic about his availability for the opening fixtures of the 2026/27 La Liga season scheduled for the weekend of August 22-23.
There is also a possibility for Fermin to be included in the squad for the friendly match against Birmingham City on July 31 during the pre-season tour in England, allowing coach Hansi Flick to reintegrate him gradually.
The club emphasizes that recovery is being carefully managed to ensure the midfielder is fully prepared for regular first-team action without rushing the process.
