Barcelona remains interested in signing Julian Alvarez, but their efforts have so far been unsuccessful. Atletico Madrid has been clear that they will not entertain offers from La Liga rivals, especially Barcelona and Real Madrid, for their prized forward.

Atletico previously rejected a €150 million bid from Real Madrid and is likely to do the same if Barcelona proposes a similar figure. The club is determined to prevent Alvarez from moving to either of their Spanish rivals. However, interest from clubs outside Spain, including Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, has emerged in recent months.

Journalist Jota Jordi, speaking on El Chiringuito, reported that Atletico has reached a closed agreement to sell the Argentine attacker to Arsenal. The deal is said to involve €50 million plus player Viktor Gyokeres, who joined the Premier League side last summer for €70 million. Neither club has confirmed this information yet.

Atletico has previously been firm against player-plus-cash offers, which reportedly complicates Barcelona's attempts, as they wanted to include players like Marc Casado or Ferran Torres in their proposal. Consequently, the race to sign Alvarez remains open, with Barcelona still actively interested.
