Roony Bardghji’s future at Barcelona remains uncertain ahead of the 2026/27 season. Although currently the primary backup on the right flank, coach Hansi Flick has yet to finalize who will deputize for the teenage star Lamine Yamal.

The Swedish youngster earned Flick’s trust late last season, starting two matches when Yamal was unavailable. However, Bardghji has yet to cement his place as an untouchable member of the first team. According to Gabriel Sans, the club remains open to selling him, but no formal offers have been made so far.

Other options compete for Bardghji’s spot. Spanish international Ferran Torres is capable of playing on the right wing and could feature more there if Barcelona reinforce the centre-forward position this summer. Marcus Rashford remains a possibility despite Barcelona not activating the purchase option after his loan. Rashford hopes to negotiate a new loan agreement, which would provide Flick with an experienced alternative able to cover multiple attacking roles.

Jan Virgili is another prospect for the position. Barcelona retain 40% of his rights, and after Mallorca’s relegation, his release clause reportedly dropped to €12 million. This would reduce Barcelona’s effective cost to about €7.2 million if they pursue a deal. Meetings about his return have occurred, but no decision has been made yet.

Bardghji’s status remains unsettled as Barcelona and Flick consider several internal and external options to bolster their attack’s right flank.
