Speculation had surrounded Raphinha’s future at Barcelona, especially following recent additions to the squad. However, club president Joan Laporta made it clear that Raphinha is not leaving and remains a key part of the team.
Speaking during his visit to the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Laporta stated, “Raphinha is staying. We have absolutely no interest in him leaving Barcelona. He’s a key player for us. Signing Gordon and Adeyemi strengthens our attack, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to let Raphinha go. He’s essential to this team.”
Laporta acknowledged that the final part of last season was challenging for Raphinha due to injury issues and limited opportunities, which impacted Barcelona’s results in La Liga, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey. He added, “It’s unfortunate that he couldn’t perform at his best during the closing stages of last season. I believe our results would have been different.”
With the situation clarified, Barcelona can plan accurately for the 2027/28 season, knowing that Raphinha will remain a vital presence in their attack as they continue to build their squad.
