Goalkeeper — by far Barça's best: did everything he could to keep the team in the game, even saving some shots that were not dangerous; he couldn't stop two unstoppable attempts. He stayed alert throughout and even scored a late equaliser.

Koundé — shaky: Lamine tried to link with him in their usual partnership but it didn't work. His only notable contribution was the cross for the 0-1. In defence he offered too many easy openings; bitterly, a stomp on him before the 2-1 was not called.

Cubarsí — frustrated: his header for 0-1 was a brief flash of joy after a goal taken from him at the Metropolitano. The joy lasted only minutes, as 1-1 quickly followed after a timid clearance by the centre back.

Eric García — hasty: committed an ill-timed foul to stop an offensive by Reis, which cost him a booking and seemed to affect him. It was not the best night for an ordinarily reliable player; he was substituted, apparently with discomfort.

Gerard Marín — promising: one of the closest to his level; started eager to show himself with a couple of encouraging forays. He was the first player substituted.

De Jong — cold: lacked the leadership expected from the midfield of a team pushing to reclaim top spot, with bureaucratic passes and medium-paced retreating. He rightly complained about several refereeing decisions, including a clear foul that merited a yellow. He also asked for an unlikely penalty.

Olmo — victimised: was fouled in a way that left no doubt, earning a penalty just before half-time. The rest of the team failed to show the passion that the opponent displayed.

Lamine — punished: missed very clear chances, including a one-on-one with Gazzaniga and a key penalty before the break that hit the woodwork. His later attempts came to nothing and he was eventually caught out.

Fermín — anxious: active but not accurate. He worked hard in attack and defence but lacked composure in final decisions, shooting often and inefficiently.

Raphinha — committed: confirmed his place under Flick. He had two very clear opportunities but did not finish the first and in the second hit the post. Flick replaced him around the hour mark.

Ferran Torres — stifled: lacked the vital space and was always a step late in his decisions. Replaced due to tiredness.

Balde — demoted: paid for the Metropolitano drama with a place on the bench. He came on in the final half hour, lost two initial balls, then provided a good pass to Roony that was poorly used. Little impact overall.

Roony — overwhelmed: replaced Raphinha and took on too many responsibilities. He did not hide but was not effective in his interventions, neither in passing nor finishing.

Lewandowski — late: remains the most reliable finisher when the ball reaches the box. He had about 20 minutes, during which he headed in a well-disallowed goal — one of the few accurate actions.

Araújo — advanced: Flick introduced the Uruguayan aiming for a character-changing impact similar to the one that allowed him to score late in the first-leg Barça-Girona match. He came close but it did not pay off this time.

Bernal — limited: replaced the injured Olmo in a context too complicated to ask much more from him.
