Alex Gonzalez, a 19-year-old winger, has begun the 2027/28 pre-season training with Barcelona’s senior squad led by Hansi Flick. Just months ago, he was playing for Damm in Spain before making his debut for Barcelona's Under-19 team in April.

Gonzalez impressed the coaching staff enough to earn an invitation to first-team pre-season shortly after signing a contract extending until 2028. Known for his versatility on the attack, he can play on either wing, combining pace, dribbling skills, and a keen eye for goal. Last season, he was among the top scorers in his group of the División de Honor Juvenil.

During the first week of training, Alex completed double sessions designed by new fitness coach Benjamin Kugel. He arrived physically prepared after following an individual summer training regimen. His adaptation to the first-team environment has been eased with support from senior players and fellow academy graduates Hafiz Gariba and Ebrima Tunkara.

In a Friday 11-a-side practice game, Gonzalez was actively involved, gaining valuable experience with the pace and intensity of senior football in pre-season conditions. He is expected to continue training with the first team early next week and could make his pre-season match debut in the friendly against Europa on July 24. Following that, he is likely to join Juliano Belletti’s Barça Atlètic squad.

Gonzalez’s rapid progression offers him a platform to continue demonstrating his readiness to contribute in Barcelona’s senior setup.
