Barcelona has been informed about the high price Atlético Madrid demands for forward Julián Álvarez. There is some dissatisfaction within Atlético regarding the movements in the player's surroundings.

The signing of Julián Álvarez by Barça is currently nearly impossible since Atlético is firm about not selling the Argentine striker this summer. The transfer fee is reportedly around 200 million euros, which serves as a deterrent and warning that Álvarez will only leave for an exceptionally high offer.

In recent weeks, Atlético has repeatedly stated the player is not on the market, and Álvarez's agent confirmed that interested clubs must negotiate directly with Atlético's management before talking to the player. Julián views a move to a more attacking project aiming clearly for the Champions League positively, something Atlético might struggle to achieve soon.

His contract runs until 2030 and includes a 500 million euro release clause, giving Atlético confidence. The club intends to extend his contract, knowing there are few forwards like him in the market with long-term potential.

Barça seeks a striker profile similar to Julián Álvarez: a goalscorer who combines well with the team, presses, works hard, scores, and moves quickly in attack. This profile contrasts with Lewandowski’s, whose contract ends June 30. Barça is also considering other options since top-level forwards are scarce and immediate impact is needed.

Barcelona will only advance if Julián clearly expresses his desire to join, which has not happened yet. The player has always been respectful to Atlético, making the signing very complicated. Barça is studying more affordable options until after the presidential elections.
