Alejandro Balde is well aware of the intense competition at Barça.

In the last two official La Liga matches, the left-back did not start against Girona or Levante. He played only the last 30 minutes in one match and remained on the bench in the other.

Hansi Flick chose to play Cancelo as left-back, switching his side rather than resting Koundé, which proved effective.

Out of the last five official matches, Balde featured only against Mallorca and Atlético - one in La Liga and one in the Copa del Rey.

Until now, he had not missed appearances without injury but has shown some inconsistency. Cancelo’s impressive performance as MVP is a threat.

Nevertheless, many European clubs are watching him closely. Inter Milan and Manchester United would consider signing him in the summer transfer window, although Balde has a current contract and doesn’t intend to leave Barça. Flick also does not plan to part ways with him.
