Barça Atlètic was forced to act after problems in attack: regular forwards Víctor Barberá and Òscar Gisau are effectively out for the season. The club made a winter signing (Joaquín Delgado) but still needs goals; Dani Rodríguez and Sama Nomoko are also injured and may not return this campaign. Hamza Abdelkarim arrived in January but is still awaiting bureaucratic clearance.

The club has taken the opportunity to bring in a free agent: 25‑year‑old Jon Cabo, who played for Lugo last season, trained recently at Barakaldo and is now on trial with the reserves. According to SPORT, he has started training under Juliano Bellei and, if he convinces, could sign until the end of the season. Cabo played for Lugo until 4 May 2025, when he suffered a cruciate ligament injury; he has been recovering without being attached to any club.

Cabo came through Athletic Club’s academy; he played last season in Primera Federación for Lugo and previously represented Sestao and Bilbao Athletic, spending three seasons with the reserve side, training with the first team and making debut appearances in friendlies under Ernesto Valverde. His primary position is left winger, but he can also play on the right, as an attacking midfielder or as a centre forward. Bellei will decide whether to add him as Barça Atlètic pushes for promotion to Primera RFEF.
