Barcelona is actively preparing for the summer transfer window amid Robert Lewandowski's expected departure. Presidential candidate Victor Font and his team have begun talks with Manchester City to obtain a preferential purchase option for current City striker Erling Haaland.

According to Football España, Font’s representatives Carles Planchar and Xavier Aguilar met with Manchester City officials in Madrid during their Champions League clash with Real Madrid. Their goal was to secure Barcelona a special buying priority for Haaland despite the Norwegian’s contract running until 2034.

Besides Barcelona’s interest, Haaland is also being pursued by Real Madrid, making the negotiations particularly complex. However, Font believes that if the deal succeeds, it would give Barcelona an edge in signing the striker and be a crucial step in the squad’s renewal.

These talks come amid a fierce presidential battle between Victor Font and Joan Laporta. Securing Erling Haaland could significantly boost Font’s chances, especially alongside his promise to bring back Pep Guardiola as Barcelona’s coach, which also appeals to fans and investors.

In this way, negotiations with Manchester City not only shape Barcelona’s transfer strategy but also influence the club’s political landscape. For supporters, it means that the new president could realize ambitious plans to strengthen the team and restore Barcelona’s position at the European summit.
