Barcelona secured a notable 4-2 victory over Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League. Fermín López scored twice, with Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski adding goals.
However, administrative issues arose. UEFA fined the club €30,500: €15,500 for flares lit by Barça supporters in the stands, violating Article 16(c) of the disciplinary regulations, and €15,000 for the team taking too long to reappear after halftime.
Hansi Flick received a formal warning from UEFA, held responsible for the delay. This is the lowest level of disciplinary action but remains on his record, and repeated offenses may lead to harsher penalties.
Flick has previously been on UEFA’s radar—his animated protests during last season’s semi-final against Inter Milan did not go unnoticed.
Slavia Prague also faced penalties: €20,000 for blocking spectator passageways and another €20,000 for flare usage. UEFA also ordered a partial closure of Eden Arena for their next European fixture, though that sanction is suspended for two years.
The fine amount for Barça is fairly manageable but unwelcome, especially since these issues were avoidable amid already challenging European nights.
