The renovation of Spotify Camp Nou, the iconic stadium of FC Barcelona, has reached phase 1C, prompting the main contractor to initiate staff reductions. Turkish construction firm Limak, responsible for the overhaul, has filed a workforce reduction plan (ERE) affecting 399 employees due to decreased labor needs as project milestones are met.
Recently, city authorities approved reopening the Gol Nord section, increasing stadium capacity to 62,657 spectators. With the project making steady progress, Limak is negotiating with the workers' committee and considering reallocating some personnel if new contracts or work arise.
Over 1,000 workers, many subcontracted, have been involved since work began in June 2023. The renovation, including the stadium's new roof, is expected to complete by December 2027. This reduction reflects a natural shift as the project advances toward finalization, with important implications for Barcelona's construction workforce.
