Alejandro Balde’s situation at Barcelona has seen a significant shift in recent weeks.

Marc Cucurella’s transfer to Real Madrid has effectively strengthened Balde’s position within the Catalan club, reducing uncertainty around his future. Earlier, Barcelona had considered Cucurella as a potential replacement for Balde at left-back.

Despite the rumors, Barcelona did not prioritize the left-back spot in their summer transfer strategy. However, ongoing uncertainty in the club’s plans led Cucurella to accept the offer from Real Madrid.

Barcelona now appears to trust the La Masia graduate more and is prepared to continue working with him rather than seeking a new starting left-back in the market.

That said, Balde’s spot is not completely guaranteed; the club remains open to transfer talks should a suitable offer arise.

Balde himself intends to stay and fight for his place. Having missed out on his national team’s World Cup squad, his summer will be different from many teammates who are currently on international duty.

Without World Cup commitments, he is set to return to the Joan Gamper Sports City on July 13 to begin preseason preparations. This extra time is important for rebuilding confidence and reestablishing himself within coach Hansi Flick’s plans.
