Barcelona is set to sign a new striker this summer following Robert Lewandowski’s official departure to Chicago Fire. Their primary target remains Julian Alvarez, but due to Atletico Madrid’s reluctance to sell the Argentina international to a direct rival, sporting director Deco has been forced to explore alternative options.

Names like Harry Kane and Eli Junior Kroupi have surfaced as possible alternatives, though neither seem likely to arrive at the Spotify Camp Nou this summer. Instead, Barcelona has shifted focus to Omar Marmoush, a Manchester City forward they have monitored for some time.

Spanish media reports place Barcelona among the leading contenders for the Egyptian forward, who is expected to be allowed to leave Manchester City this summer to secure regular playing time. Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus have also expressed interest, while Galatasaray reportedly offered a loan deal.

Manchester City is reportedly seeking around €60 million for Marmoush, a fee significantly lower than the roughly €150 million Atletico might demand for Alvarez. Marmoush, 27, was signed 18 months ago for close to €70 million.

Able to play centrally as a striker or on either wing, Marmoush’s versatility fits well with Barcelona’s needs. Should Rony Bardghji leave as anticipated this summer, the club’s attacking depth on the flanks would be reduced, making a flexible forward like Marmoush a smart option akin to Ferran Torres.

It remains uncertain whether Barcelona will proceed with a move for Marmoush, which likely hinges on their ability to secure Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.
