Former Barcelona midfielder and member of Hansi Flick’s coaching staff Thiago Alcántara recently appeared on the "Rio Ferdinand Presents" podcast to share his insights on Lamine Yamal and his views on modern football.

Thiago highlighted that, thanks to his recent retirement, he was still fit enough to train with Barcelona’s first team and witness Lamine Yamal’s talent firsthand. "In training games, he makes a difference. You know the team he’s in is going to win," he stated.

Analyzing Yamal’s style, Thiago noted the importance of fast decision-making and physical readiness in today’s game. He described Lamine as a very mature player with the potential to become the best player in the world.

He also praised Pedri, naming him "the best central midfielder in the world," and compared him to Andrés Iniesta for his fluidity and game intelligence.

Regarding his work with Hansi Flick, Thiago said, "I learned from him how a coach should behave as a human being and how to manage a group." Working alongside Flick was an inspiring experience for him.

Thiago’s comments confirm Lamine Yamal’s status as one of Barcelona’s brightest young talents while highlighting Pedri as a key figure in modern midfield football.
