This past weekend, Barcelona’s young defender Jofre Torrens suffered an injury while playing for the reserve team, Barça Atlètic.

The club has officially confirmed that the young left-back has a syndesmosis injury in his left ankle, sidelining him for close to three months.

"Medical tests have shown that Barça Atlètic player Jofre Torrens has a syndesmosis injury in his left ankle. The expected recovery time is between 10 and 12 weeks," the club statement read.

This injury is a major setback for Torrens, who was one of the La Masia prospects expected to break into the senior team this season while regularly featuring for Barça Atlètic under Juliano Belletti.

The injury occurred during the reserve team’s league game against Alcoyano. After coming on as a substitute, the teenage left-back soon went down in pain.

The way he left the pitch caused concern, and it is now confirmed that he will be out for an extended period of at least ten weeks.

So far this season, Torrens has made four first-team appearances for Barcelona and featured 15 times for Barça Atlètic, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
