The future of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is expected to become clearer after England’s World Cup campaign concludes.
According to Spanish media, Barcelona was prepared to wait until the final stages of the summer transfer window for Rashford, but the Catalan club’s recent signing of Anthony Gordon has altered the transfer landscape considerably. Unless there are major changes in Barcelona’s attacking options, Rashford’s return to Camp Nou seems increasingly unlikely.
Manchester United’s stance regarding Rashford has shifted notably in recent weeks. The club is now more open to retaining the England international, having struggled to identify a suitable replacement on the wing. Strengthening the midfield has become a higher priority for the Red Devils than recruiting new attacking wide options.
Rashford himself is focused on only two destinations: staying at Manchester United or moving to Barcelona. He has no interest in loan deals or joining other clubs temporarily.
Support for Rashford’s return has also come from within Manchester United’s dressing room. Defender Harry Maguire recently said, “Yes, of course. I’ve had a great relationship with Marcus and shared many great moments with him over the years. I know what a wonderful player he can be.”
A final decision on Rashford’s future isn’t expected until mid-August, but for now, a return to Old Trafford for preseason looks increasingly likely.
