Marc Guiu has attracted attention with his performances in Barcelona's youth ranks. At 17 years old, he made his first-team debut and immediately made a scoring impact.
Guiu is a Spanish-born striker, known for playing as a traditional number nine, a profile somewhat atypical for La Masia graduates. Before joining the senior squad, he played in the youth teams and made one appearance for Barça Atlètic, scoring in the Youth League.
His debut took place on October 23, 2023, in a match against Athletic Bilbao at Camp Nou. The game was tightly contested, with Athletic defending resolutely. Guiu came on as a substitute for Balde with ten minutes remaining. Almost instantly, after just 23 seconds on the pitch, he scored the winning goal following a precise pass from João Félix and a measured long ball from Iñigo Martínez.
This goal was his first as a professional with Barcelona and crucial for the match outcome. After the game, Guiu said, "I can’t believe it; I’m still catching my breath, enjoying the moment and processing it." About the goal, he added, "João Félix received the ball centrally, I saw space, controlled the ball, lifted my head, noticed the goalkeeper coming out, and placed it precisely. It’s an honor to score against Unai."
At the time, coach Xavi Hernández had instructed him to "go out and press with full energy, you'll get your chances."
Two months later, Guiu scored again in a Champions League match against Royal Antwerp. However, a year later, Chelsea activated his release clause and signed him for the Premier League.
Marc Guiu’s early professional contributions demonstrate his ability to adapt quickly and provide important moments for his teams.
