Barcelona president Joan Laporta has expressed his willingness to offer Robert Lewandowski a contract extension for one more year. Laporta emphasized that the striker deserves the extension due to his desire to play for the Catalan club.
"Lewandowski deserves a contract extension because he wanted to come here. If he wants to stay and understands his role, we will offer him a renewal," Laporta told RAC1. The president also noted that the central forward position is covered with Lewandowski and Ferran but the club remains open to signing new players if needed.
Lewandowski himself is not rushing his decision about the future and plans to decide within a few months. While Barcelona initially prioritized signing a new striker this summer, recent focus has shifted toward strengthening the defense, with Alessandro Bastoni among defensive targets.
Therefore, Barcelona aims to maintain attacking stability by relying on Lewandowski's experience and productivity while balancing squad development. Extending the Polish forward’s contract could become a key part of the La Liga leader’s strategy for the upcoming season.
